Wimbledon International Short Film Festival is honoured to welcome writer / director Deborah Haywood to sit on our 2019 Festival Jury.
Along with the other Jury members, Deborah will help to choose our award winners, such as Best Film and Best London Filmmaker, from our official selection. Deborah is no stranger to Wimbledon Shorts, having won Best Audience Award in 2011 for her short film SIS.
Following Deborah’s first short film LADY MARGARET, Deborah was selected for Screen International’s Stars of Tomorrow in 2007. Several more award winning short films followed, most notably multi-award winning SIS (2010).
PIN CUSHION, starring Lily Newmark and Joanna Scanlan, is Deborah’s debut feature and opened Critic’s Week at Venice International Film Festival, 2017. It was nominated for three BIFA’S, longlisted for the Evening Standard Awards, won Special Jury Award at EFF of Seville, Jury Award at Ithaca Fantastik FF, and the Audience Award at the International Films de Femmes. It gained 4* reviews, including Critic’s Choice in the New York Times.
Deborah has recently received a nomination for Breakthrough Filmmaker at the London Critic’s Circle Awards and was named as one of the Biggest Breakout Female Filmmakers by Harper’s Bazaar.
